CSGO - De_Gauntlet - Part 3 - Unfortunate ending

Updated: Mar 26

Hello again. Unfortunately, when files between my laptop and my computer the files for this map got lost. I did not have a back up for them, (lessons learned for the future). With that, this is the end of De_Gauntlet. Because of this I wanted to do a writeup on the intentions of the map and what I had originally planned for it as a whole, even if the map itself is lost the ideas and drive behind it can still be discussed!

As I lightly mentioned in my previous updates for De_Gauntlet, the map was being made because I like CSGO and wanted to try making a custom map for it, both to make a fun map, and to learn the editor that most Source games use, Hammer. I achieved the latter goal with the project even if it ended up busted. I learned Hammer, and hopefully I can use the skills I learned from this map to make more things in the future.

The map itself was meant to be a simple 'de_' style map for the game, inspired mostly by Nuke and Dust2. I think the idea was actually kind of uninspired and the location wasn't well defined. Just some random warehouses. If I do make another CSGO map I'll want to try focusing more on the location from the start so I'm not left wondering where it's set myself in the future.

Overall, despite it having a sad ending, I'm glad that I started the project and I will hopefully use the things I learned from it in the future for more maps. Thanks for reading along!
